Fletcher Van Gilder LLP is honored to announce that partner David Van Gilder has been approved as a new board member of the Indiana Bar Foundation. His first term is a two-year commitment beginning July 1, 2021, and ending June 30, 2023.
The Indiana Bar Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to strengthening access to justice and appreciation for the rule of law in Indiana. The Foundation gathers and directs resources toward three areas: providing civic education to Hoosiers of all ages, assisting those who have difficulty accessing the justice system, and improving the legal profession. It annually hosts the student program “We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution.”
Van Gilder has more than 30 years of experience helping people who have been injured either at work or through the negligence of others. He serves as a guardian for incapacitated veterans and helps protect natural resources through land use planning and enforcement of environmental laws. His vast community involvement includes board service for Coalition for Court Access, Allen County Bar Association Pro Bono Section, Volunteer Lawyer Program of Northeast Indiana, Hoosier Environmental Council, Fort Wayne Trails and ACRES Land Trust. He earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Bowling Green State University and a J.D. from American University. He also served in the United States Peace Corps in Botswana and is an Indiana Advocacy Coordinator for the National Peace Corps Association.
